Starfish Emergency Foster Home
A Safe Place When It’s Needed Most

The Starfish Emergency Foster Home, operated by Starfish Ministries, provides short-term, emergency care for children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect, or other crisis situations. Designed to be a warm and welcoming environment, the home offers children immediate safety, stability, and compassion during one of the most difficult transitions of their lives.

Children typically stay for up to 72 hours, though extensions may be made on a case-by-case basis in partnership with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). During their time at the home, children are cared for by a licensed volunteer foster parent who lives in the home with them, offering consistent, one-on-one support and a sense of family and routine.

The home is fully stocked with clothing, hygiene items, meals, and comforting touches to help ease the transition. While children are in our care, DCFS works to secure a longer-term placement, whether that be with a relative, foster family, or another appropriate setting.

At Starfish, we believe that even in the middle of crisis, every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and loved—even if just for one night----because it matters to the One!

Starfish Book Nook & Coffee Corner
Faith. Community. Purpose.

The Starfish Book Nook & Coffee Corner is more than just a bookstore—it's a mission-driven community hub committed to faith, growth, and transformation. As the only Christian bookstore in Central Louisiana, we provide a carefully curated selection of Bibles, devotionals, Christian literature, gifts, and resources to support individuals and families in their spiritual journey.

But our vision goes beyond books and coffee.

Through our Youth Employment & Mentorship Program, we are creating meaningful opportunities for at-risk youth to gain real-world job experience, develop essential life and workplace skills, and build positive, lasting relationships with adult mentors. Youth employed at the Book Nook will be trained in areas like customer service, inventory management, teamwork, financial literacy, and leadership—all in a nurturing, faith-based environment.

We are also partnering with local small businesses who share our heart for the next generation. Together, we aim to build a network of employers, mentors, and community leaders who will invest in equipping these young men and women with the tools they need to succeed in life and in work.

At Starfish, we believe in planting seeds of purpose—because when you change the direction of one young life, you change the future. Check out our Facebook for events and more that you can be part of!
